Children leading the way - a method for including children´s perspectives in transport planning

Important results from the project

Several different methods were presented in the report and we were also able to come up with four concrete recommendations that can strengthen municipalities´ work with a child perspective: early dialogue and continuous work, expertise about children´s needs, anchoring decisions at all levels and a combination of methods for broader insights.

Expected long term effects

That we achieve the goal of contributing to children´s perspectives being included in transport planning and thus satisfying children´s rights to influence social development and increasing their opportunities for active travel.

Approach and implementation

The project included four different sub-projects: - Two different current situation descriptions - A description of methods and tools for developing decision-making documents - Workshops with officials who discussed the different methods, and - Interviews with actors who work with and are responsible for traffic and urban planning issues.
