Purpose and goal

The objective of the project has been to, together with the actors in the railway industry, formulate a strategic agenda for research- and innovation. The agenda should be a strategic alignment document for the research program KAJT. The agenda will also be a supportive document to the application of becoming a strategic innovation area.

Results and expected effects

A strategic agenda for research and innovation has been formulated, aiming at capacity in the railway traffic system. Important actors in the industry have agreed around its priorities. The work to formulate the agenda has strengthened the interaction within KAJT. Expected consequences of the work is partly that new industry partners are expected to join KAJT, partly that the agenda is an important part of the application for a strategic innovation area, partly that the needs and priorities of the railway industry has been clarified and structured.

Approach and implementation

The main work, including report writing, was made by a project group consisting of four persons. 8 companies in the railway industry were visited for interview regarding the industry´s need for research and innovation. A preliminary report was discussed by the program council, including one representative from each academic partner in KAJT. Before the final revision of the agenda, it was discussed at a workshop with participants from both academy and railway industry. The final agenda was sent on referral to all involved parties for final comments and for acceptance of its conclusions.
