Purpose and goal
The goal of this project is to explore and develop a context-aware mission planner for heterogeneous assets with a real-time task scheduling and resource allocation capability. This will also include functions for real-time coordination and decentralized execution of drone swarms and human operators. The capability is relevant for command and control of future swarm-enabled systems and for efficient collaboration within these systems.
Expected effects and result
The main results of this project are a set of robust functions partitioned into Mission planning, Mission execution and Mission monitoring, aimed to increase the capability for command and control of future swarm-enabled systems and for efficient collaboration within these systems.
Planned approach and implementation
We have identified two main problems to address in this research related to global and local optimization respectively. The global optimization problem is addressed during mission planning whereas the local optimization problem is addressed during mission execution. Both problems will rely on various constraints in order to balance relevant safety measures with mission effectiveness. These problems will be analyzed, relevant solution will be selected/ developed, evaluated and disseminated.
