Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In this project, the goal has been to develop a robot-mounted C-frame in carbon fibre composite with equivalent properties in geometric deformation to today´s existing products on the market with a weight reduction of 40%. weight reduction of between 72 and 38% depending on which material, steel or aluminium, with which the comparison is made.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Replacing the material in a C-frame with carbon fiber composite instead of metal affects a number of different aspects in use. The weight reduction means that the robot can possibly be reduced in size depending on how large a load it otherwise handles, alternatively the speed can be increased so that the operation goes faster. Energy use in connection with a change of material is positively affected as less energy is required to handle the lighter product.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** In the project, a lot of time has been spent on replicating the specific movement that is necessary for the C-frame to function optimally. As a results of this, possible ways of producing the product have been reduced from two to one. This has negatively affected the cost of the product, which has led to us together with RISE applying for and being granted another project to investigate an alternative manufacturing technology that can potentially lower the manufacturing cost.
