Important results from the project

The goals of academic research and cross-learning are considered to have been met. The project has also involved quite large investments in trust capital between the involved organizations and co-creation of new knowledge. We have spent time and focus on regular meeting and sharing experiences. Everyone has shown great openness in the joint project workshops. This has led to several initiatives outside the formal project where the companies have met and initiated an exchange of experiences.

Expected long term effects

The project has identified and shown how to adapt the supply chain planning, and how to utilize structural supply chain flexibility, to build resilience during larger disruptions and uncertainty. Further, it has identified a need to better address trade-offs of resource efficiency and resilience; and reduce/prevent overuse of resources to develop strategies which align resilience, cost and sustainability goals.

Approach and implementation

The project has been a collaborative project between Chalmers, RISE and five industrial companies. In-depth case studies have been carried out within some sub-areas. Each sub-study has involved two to four of the project companies. In parallel with the case studies, cross-learning between the companies has been carried out through recurring full-day workshops focused on different focused subject issues. All project parties have participated in these workshops.
