Important results from the project

The project has developed a clear working method for adults to support youth to grow and create safe and developing environments through self-organized activities. This has led to cross-sectoral collaboration between the public, private and non-profit sectors and laid the foundation for new investment models. All sectors of society have mobilized to create a system change linked to the view of the boundary between the school´s mission and leisure activities, even before the project was completed

Expected long term effects

Sustainable structure for youth self-organization that links school and children´s leisure activities. Through cross-sectoral investment models, collaboration between civil society, school and business is strengthened. This give children access to safe, free activities and equal conditions for developing leadership, responsibility and confidence in one´s own abilities. In the long term this can contribute to increased school attendance, improved academic results and strengthened social capital

Approach and implementation

The project was implemented according to plan with a focus on developing and testing the PFU role as a support function for school IF. The activities proved to be well adapted and gave the desired results. Some adjustments were made to meet local needs. The cooperation between the parties worked very well and contributed to the development of methods and new forms of collaboration. The project lost two parties early on, but these were quickly replaced and strengthened by other existing ones.
