Venture Cluster of Excellence for Cutting-Edge Technologies - calls for proposals
Call Visions for world-leading research and innovation in strategic technology areas

Purpose and goal

Our vision is that by 2035 Sweden will be a world leader in introducing groundbreaking biotechnologies and AI in medicine to ensure patient-centred, transformative health care. We are establishing a unique cluster of excellence that enables the continuous and fast translation of cutting-edge molecular profiling and imaging with AI-powered data analysis to the university hospitals. The cluster will enable precision medicine of the future, change healthcare and promote the growth of new companies.

Expected effects and result

A national roadmap for a biotechnology and AI-powered precision medicine cluster, defining implementation of joint precision medicine units, secure data environments, AI tools for clinical decision support, innovation strategies, and governance to make Sweden a global leader in precision healthcare by 2035.

Planned approach and implementation

A six-month preparatory project with six work packages to deliver a national roadmap: joint precision medicine units, secure data environment, AI tools, innovation and industry strategy, clinical trials, and governance. Two project managers coordinate activities between SciLifeLab and university hospitals to prepare for large-scale implementation and phase II funding.
