Biobased materials makerspace

Purpose and goal

Many of the innovators and companies we have supported during the project has decided to use bio-based materials instead of traditional oil-based plastics. It general public targeted project ´Crafter Work´ (mainly wood / fabric) has become an ongoing activity and will continue after the project period. Our cooperation with the Nordic bioplastförening will also continue, as many innovators and companies proved very interested in using bio-based materials.

Expected results and effects

As awareness of alternatives to petroleum-based plastics seem quite low, we are pleased to have been able to provide alternative bio-based materials. We will continue to propose bio-based materials options for those who are interested. The more products that are produced in bio-based materials, the more people will open their eyes to its properties.

Planned approach and implementation

From the start we intended to arrange extensive lectures and workshops, but the need from companies and innovators proved to be so scattered that we instead offered special targeted support in each case. More work can be put on to spread the word when we experience that the prejudice often is that bio-based materials are insufficient for the needs you have. Our own knowledge and network of contacts we have created and will enable and facilitate the further development of products in bio-based materials.
