Better dialogue through search and better search through dialogue

Important results from the project

The aim of the project is to create a dialogue-based search application which would offer a new way to search for information - not only with voice but also via dialogue. The system uses Swedish as the language for speech recognition and speech synthesis. The primary data which it works with is turistinformation about museums and events in Western Sweden.

Expected long term effects

The result of the project was a dialogue-based web application where one can search for information about Western Sweden either via voice or by typing text. Through the use of both speech and dialogue as well as being interactive the system is suitable for a larger group of people - not only computer literate ones.

Approach and implementation

During the project Findwise worked together with Talkamatic. Findwise had the responsibility for the search application which would interact with a dialogue system. Talkamatic improved their dialogue manager in order to work together with Findwise´s technology. The deploy of the whole system as web application has been taken care by both companies. Both parties have also done tests during the project to verify that the components work flawlessly. Improvements have been done after the system has been demonstrated to customers.
