Important results from the project

The project has digitalized notifications of potential cases for child mistreatments by developing specialized e-services, automating filing in the business system and by developing decision making support for the case managers. The purpose is to prevent situations where queues are created due to increase in the volume of incoming notifications, resulting in decreased ability to offer the right help in time. All objectives have been reached and further improvements to the AI/ML model have been generated.

Expected long term effects

The project product has been well received among stakeholders. The e-service is already the primary channel for schools. Expected benefits include shortened time to decision and increased quality in legal procedures for children, youth and legal guardians. Expected long term effect is an increased ability to meet future challenges such as increase in demand and scarcity of resources available for providing social services.

Approach and implementation

In-depth analysis of data from e-services and business system have been more time consuming than initially estimated. Development and training of models for AI/ML have been according to plan, but the legal framework often constitutes an impediment as it is limiting for the use of new technology. Establishment of governance structure and spreading the knowledge has been conducted in workshop form and during theoretical training sessions.
