Coordinator Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset - Kvalitet och Patientsäkerhet
Funding from Vinnova SEK 580 000
Project duration November 2013 - June 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Collaboration has been established with a number of companies that can provide specific technology to develop a computer-based monitoring system for detection of VRI, which continuously and automatically monitors the running text in electronic patient records without burdening the daily work of physicians and healthcare professionals. A plan for further work have been prepared. The plan has been designed after examining the needs and the economic potential that can be found in the final product. Three applications for funding the development of the system have been prepared.

Results and expected effects

The project has been able to start building a foundation for collaboration and funding for the development of automated systems for HAI reporting. Based on this multidisciplinary collaboration, a long-term work can be planned.

Approach and implementation

An analysis of our approach shows the advantages of an open invitation to many parties, for whom we explained the problem and made suggestions for solutions. These unconditional workshops resulted in that the problem could be chiselled out more clearly, and we also learned of approches to solutions we were unaware of in the project group, as the problem is so multifaceted and interdisciplinary.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
