Important results from the project
The project aimed primarily to initiate a research team with members from Linköping university, Termisk Systemteknik AB and the Aeronautic Institute of Technology (Brazil). A common inventory of available resources and infrastructure and identification of additional project partners were to be conducted. Secondly, an outline for the intended research was to be established, and the compatibility of the equipment investigated. Overall, the work went according to plan; meetings have entirely been held online, which rather facilitated more frequent contacts.
Expected long term effects
We have successfully established a contact with ITA in Brazil and compiled the first part of a research team with expertise knowledge from the relevant disciplines. Existing resources like hardware and software have been investigated. First experiments are planned for the simple test environment in Linköping and the more advanced facilities in Brazil. The idea was also presented for a potential Brazilian industrial partner and for another university, with a very positive response. The expectations are now a growing research team and common applications for further funding.
Approach and implementation
The project was executed according the submitted plan. Phase one of the project was fully accomplished by several online meetings between the Swedish and Brazilian parties. In the second phase a possible master thesis project was formulated, a stationary flight simulator was in addition to the full motion simulator in Brazil made available at LiU, and preparations for extended financing were executed. In addition, the new research group have scheduled further online meetings aiming to prepare the first test campaign in Brazil.
