Important results from the project
Develop technique demonstrators with pilot applications. Ten pilot applications where developed with distributed and collaborative automation. By "distributed" it is meant that the application cover different types of industrial systems, from sensors and processes to enterprise level. The applications where implemented in real systems or demonstrated by simulation with real data.
Expected long term effects
Regarding the possibilities to exploit the project results, e.g. improved 3D localization techniques, preliminary applications could be in the field of mine automation and robotics. With accurate and high resolution 3D positioning, possibilities opens to build robotized machinery to carry out risk exposed work, such as remote controlled charging of explosives, or other remote controlled / automatic machinery to replace manually operated work in underground mining.
Approach and implementation
The Work Package has achieved most of its objectives and technical goals for the period with relatively minor deviations.
