Important results from the project
Flight & Safety Design offers an environmentally friendly and modern LSA-aircraft intended for transport and recreational flying. A unique wing design together with a new engine results in 50 % lower fuel consumption and at the same time better performance. The airplane becomes more efficient than a car. The contribution from VinnNu made it possible for Flight & Safety Design to visit and exchange business with the most successful airplane manufactures in Europe.
Expected long term effects
ECO1 is expected to be a milestone for environmentally friendly flying in the future. An electrical version is already offered to customers and a hybrid solution is under development.
Approach and implementation
Certification in the new LSA category of a superior aerodynamic design, ECO1, with an environmentally friendly drive chain, is the future for sport aircraft flying. Expected sales are 100 aircraft/year.
