Project duration August 2025 - August 2028
Status Ongoing
Venture Advanced digitalization - Industrial needs-driven innovation
Call Advanced digitalization - Industrial innovation 2025

Purpose and goal

The manufacturing industry is beginning to use data-driven AI solutions to improve productivity, work environment and quality. Despite the potential, industrial use is limited & often isolated, takes a long time to implement & lacks engineering tools & integrated workflows. Automation is uncommon for products with high variety & low-volumes of high-value components. The goal is to use AI to create a new level of automation that supports skilled operators & opens up new business opportunities.

Expected effects and result

The project will develop, transfer, integrate and exploit AI and digitalization in an industrial context to enable an upscaled daily operations. In particular there is a potential for demand driven innovation through the relevant cases of Aerospace and Energy industry. The research will realise potentials for productivity, quality, repair and circular econmy and sustanability. At the same time, results aim to create impact beyond these cases and advance the field of industrial AI.

Planned approach and implementation

The work is organized into 5 work packages that will develop, test and validate methods for: - Generative process planning / strategy - Process planning / path planning in flexible & adaptive automation - Simulation / Virtual validation of automated processes - Automated inspection and repair processes - Analysis & prediction of quality / performance During the second part of the project, integration in a demonstrator environment will take place to show the system solution and process chain.
