Purpose and goal

As the manufacturing industry grows and becomes more diversified, managing information to support after-sales services is becoming more complex. Existing information systems today use little intelligence despite considerable potential. Therefore, the project aims to explore the feasibility of applying artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline the management, quality assurance and distribution of spare parts information and service information within service networks.

Expected effects and result

The project expects to develop a TRL 3 prototype of an AI solution that streamlines management and assures high-quality product and spare part information to facilitate service, self-service, and repair for users while developing product and part phase-out strategies. AI-driven innovation in after-sales services enhances efficiency, reduces costs and waste, and supports sustainable practices in Sweden’s $117B manufacturing sector— advancing SDGs 9 & 12 and global AI leadership.

Planned approach and implementation

The project is structured into five work packages: project management, defining the baseline, establishing technical and data requirements for the AI solutions, developing a prototype, and formulating a strategy for phase 1–2 collaborative projects. KTH will provide research and management support, Signifikant will be responsible for AI solutions development, and the associate partner, Atlas Copco Air Power, will serve as the project´s end user.
