Important results from the project
The project was initiated before the start-up of the clinic in order to monitor the operational process and how well the vision fitted the real-life operations. The medical side was driven by healthcare professionals and the business/facilities side by Linde Healthcare. The goal was to evaluate if you can get a good cooperation between publicly financed health care and a private business concept and thus fill a large health care need. The concept worked, so through a customized, effective care we area ble to attain higher quality at lower price for those currently vulnerable patients.
Expected long term effects
Purpose: to evaluate whether a cooperation between publicly funded health care and private industry can fill a large health care need by designing a clinic that provides customised care with high quality and efficiency to the group of severely disadvantaged patients who require advanced respiratory care and intensive rehabilitation. The goal was to produce a report from this process including: vision, needs, requirements (medical technology, health and safety, infection control, gender), case reports, and a health economic analysis in the design of this clinic, accessible to all.
Approach and implementation
The result of the project has been a new level of care for patients with a high demand for care, since they require advanced respiratory care and intensive rehabilitation. This care can be provided with good medical results in a patient-safe environment, provided that certain requirements are met. Cost is lower than in intensive care and this new level of care can also relieve ordinary hospital wards from having to take on patients that are very resource demanding. The result - this level of care is now seen as a necessary complement to care in acute hospitals in collaboration with them.
