Purpose and goal
In the project MY-LASER technology to miniaturize process tools and sensors for laser welding etc will be developed. Within the aeronautics and space industries such tools are needed to improve accessibility at manufacturing of very complex geometries. A prototype tool will be produced with suitable optics, sensors and control software to in combination with a robot demonstrate laser welding in a complex geometry, supplied be the end user Volvo Aero. Sensors for both functionality of the tool and for monitoring of the welding process are integrated in a compact way with the process tool.
Results and expected effects
The project will increase the knowledge in handling high laser power together with high beam quality in small optical geometries. This will make Permanova even more competitive, and will enable an expansion towards aeronautics and space industries. The main goal is to develop technology which enables miniaturization of the tools that today are a limiting factor in accessibility at manufacturing of complex components. The project will produce a prototype process tool.
Approach and implementation
The project will be carried out by a thorough investigation of current scientific state of the art and through design of a prototype with the following validation of its properties with practical experimental tests.
