EU effort opens opportunities for large Swedish companies in AI and semiconductors - IPCEI

Published: 11 February 2026

On behalf of the government, Vinnova is looking for large Swedish companies that want to participate in the European collaboration IPCEI on the development of AI and semiconductors. The aim is to create joint European consortia that can work together to accelerate technology development in Europe. This is an opportunity to be involved in developing Europe's common technology for the future.

In a first step, actors are invited to submit an expression of interest to participate in the application process.
On Friday, February 13th at 1:00 PM, a digital information meeting will be held for interested companies:

Information meeting: IPCEI- effort in AI and semiconductor technology - for large companies in European collaborations

The EU initiative Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) in the areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Semiconductor Technologies (AST) has been ongoing for some time. The government recently contacted Vinnova to enable Swedish participation.

- With this initiative, we see that Swedish companies can have a greater opportunity to actively influence the common European technology development, says Anna Ottenhall, programme manager for Advanced digitalisation at Vinnova. The purpose of IPCEI is to enable large and strategically important innovation projects that strengthen European value chains and solve societal challenges that the market itself is unable to handle.

Here's how it works

Vinnova is accepting expressions of interest from companies that want to participate in the application process. The deadline for submitting expression of interest together with an overall project plan is 23 February 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The projects will be implemented by large companies in EU collaborations within the IPCEI Advanced Semiconductor Technologies (IPCEI AST)) and IPCEI Artificial Intelligence (IPCEI AI)) initiatives.

The expressions of interest that Vinnova believes can lead to constructive EU collaborations will proceed to an international matchmaking process. In a later step, the selected companies can submit a more detailed project plan for assessment of funding.

The information meeting on Friday, February 13 at 1:00 p.m. will be held digitally and does not require advance registration. There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
