Climate-neutral and circular production
Climate-neutral and circular production means a production system that is powered by sustainable energy supply and where no residual materials are wasted. It means that renewable raw materials are used for both materials and energy. It is also about extending the lifespan of components and products by creating conditions for remanufacturing.
Efficient use of material and energy flows
This could mean, among other things, that fossil raw materials are replaced by renewable and bio-based raw materials without a negative impact on biodiversity or that, within the framework of the production system, residual products and carbon dioxide streams are maximally utilized as secondary input materials.
Digitalisation and automation as enablers
To succeed with climate-neutral and circular production, a system is required that can track and declare the climate impact of components, materials and products throughout the entire value chain. An increased degree of digitalisation and automation enables excellent, responsive and smart factories and supply chains, which in turn contribute to an optimized climate-neutral energy supply and material use.
