Important results from the project

The project successfully met its initial goals and contributed to a deeper understanding of urban delivery operations focusing on delivery drivers’ behavior in real-world contexts. It enabled the first formal collaboration between the two main partners and fostered the exchange of knowledge between research groups, public agencies, and private companies in Sweden and the US. This collaboration has attracted interest from public authorities and logistics stakeholders.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, the project is expected to support more efficient and sustainable urban deliveries. By improving the understanding of how driver behavior affects logistics performance, the results can inform smarter planning tools and more targeted policy measures. The project also laid the foundation for continued international research collaboration and fostered new connections with public and private stakeholders, which may lead to future applied projects.

Approach and implementation

The project largely followed the original plan. It was based on close collaboration between the two main partners and included data collection, methodological development, and case studies in two cities. The selected activities proved appropriate for achieving the project’s objectives. The timeline was mostly adhered to, although some tasks were delayed due to external factors such as the administrative processes between institutions, data availability, and local implementation challenges.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
