Call Impact Innovation - Regulations and policy instruments for a sustainable industry

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project is to continue the work from the Circular Textile Framework and further develop and implement a more efficient classification method for textile waste that increases resource efficiency in recycling and supports the transition to a circular economy. The project must also contribute with decision-making support for the development of standards in the area.

Expected effects and result

The goal is to develop a user-friendly classification system for textile waste intended for recycling that is based on the most common material streams, where the volumes will make a difference, which is also linked to the most common recycling techniques today. This system solution, which will make circularity visible. and environmental footprint of different materials, will be highlighted in different policy and standard groupings at both SIS and TEKO.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will add more fibers and materials, evaluate the effect of different color methods and surface treatments as well as content of already recycled fiber. we will also work with: - Assessment of material and product recyclability - Estimate the environmental impact of different mixtures with fiber to fiber recycled raw material for different types of recommended classifications - Recommend standard for classification of recycled textiles
