Important results from the project

The project aimed to gather researchers and actors from the goods transport system to examine how to improve sustainability and resilience by utilizing lessons learned from Covid-19. The main goal was to increase the knowledge about the system through a literature study, interviews, and workshops with actors from different industries. A distinguishing feature of the project was the application of resilience thinking by using methods like Wayfinder for the transport and logistics industry.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in a report on the state-of-the-art analysis comprising of a causal map describing relationships between different actors and an overview of existing resilience frameworks. The project has identified several possible areas for both long- and short-term research and listed the risks which require attention. The results can be developed further to design a more resilient and sustainable transport system that can deal with future crises and societal changes.

Approach and implementation

The project consisted of three main parts namely a state-of-the-art literature survey, interviews, and workshops. The literature survey enabled the formulation of interview questions. The workshops aimed to apply systems and resilience thinking methods in addition to discussing the results of the literature survey and interviews. The project also invited experts to deliver guest lectures during workshops.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
