Status Ongoing

Purpose and goal

REAP UP: Resource Efficiency & Assessment Process for Used Parts will demonstrate sustainable flows of worn-out components in vehicles where economic, ecological and social consequences will be made visible. AI models for decision-making will be evaluated and related to the innovation needs. REAP UP will identify system boundaries, challenges and opportunities within subsystems, establish new collaborations and common objective and plans, and describe expected effects of a system demonstration.

Expected effects and result

The project will result in a project plan that defines the aim with and consequences of a system demonstrator for the reuse and remanufacturing of vehicle components. The system demonstrator will in the next step involve a "proof of concept" and demonstrate the possibilities and barriers with a circular industrial system for vehicles. Both ecological aspects and social aspects of the system demonstrator together with a sustainable business model will be illustrated.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will have three work packages in addition to AP 0 for coordination and results reporting: AP 1 focuses on system mapping of recycling in a Swedish/European context. AP 2 continues with system mapping of recycling in an emerging market. AP 3 contains a state-of-the-art study to identify relevant AI tools to support the need for the right decision-making basis for the effective resource management processes that the project intends to demonstrate in the next step.
