Purpose and goal
The planning grant will be used to prepare an internationally competitive project application for the European call for proposals HORIZON-CL4-INDUSTRY-2025- 01-TWIN-TRANSITION-37. The planning project will focus on planning and designing the work packages that Swerim will lead and participate in to lay a good foundation for a successfully implemented project if the main application is approved for funding.
Expected effects and result
The main project will investigate the potential for circulating residual waste (both internal and external) in the ESF and EAF steelmaking processes. The envisaged residual wastes include used slag, dust, dross and secondary carbon sources. The study will also track trace elements from these waste materials throughout the production chain to assess their impact on the properties of the final product.
Planned approach and implementation
The literature study will map state-of-the-art and previous studies related to Swerim´s activities within the project proposal in order to write as good a background to the project application as possible.
Through internal discussions and consortium meetings with other parties in the consortium, design a competitive project application where each party is a piece of the puzzle that contributes to a common work, rather than us working as isolated islands in the project.
