Important results from the project

The purpose of the feasibility study NODA (National ObesitasDAta) was to analyze different requirements for content and design of this data solution for people with BMI >25. NODA´s data will be used by Individuals, Healthcare professionals, Industry and Academia. The purpose of evaluating NODA data is obesity prevention, better health and treatment options, but also a professional care of people with obesity. This study describes current problems, different populations, which data is needed, which data solutions are available, and also how implementation can be accomplished.

Expected long term effects

This feasibility study NODA has assessed the different aspects of data collection that is needed in order to increase health in the obese/overweight population. The analysis has resulted in detailed descriptions of current problems, the objectives of different populations and the type of data needed (Appendix 1). It is also important for the next step in the implementation of the project that the feasibility study has produced detailed descriptions of how the data users want data entry and implementation to take place. Available data solution systems were also assessed (Appendix 2).

Approach and implementation

Assessment by interviews from thirty individuals representing the populations (individuals with normal weight / overweight / obesity, health and medical staff, academia, industry, and expertise in registers / health data / law / IT) have been processed with qualitative content analysis. The population interviewed consists of a small appropriate sample and the results can thus not be generalized. However, the results can be used to prioritizing which data is selected for a pilot version.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
