Purpose and goal
This project aims to prepare a full proposal for a generative AI–based epidemic modeling platform that can use infectious disease models to answer plain-language questions and present results in easily understandable ways. Through coordinated planning, stakeholder co-design, and initial prototyping, we will define system needs, align interdisciplinary partners, and demonstrate feasibility. The goal is to support timely, interpretable modeling for public-health decision-making.
Expected effects and result
The expected result is a competitive proposal responding to Horizon Europe’s HORIZON-HLTH-2025-01-DISEASE-04 call. The planned project will support pandemic preparedness by leveraging generative AI to make epidemic modeling more accessible, interpretable, and responsive. The concept aligns with the call’s emphasis on innovative, cross-sector solutions for health crises and aims to strengthen data-driven public-health decision-making in Europe
Planned approach and implementation
We will establish a multidisciplinary consortium of AI, epidemiology, and public health experts. Through planning workshops, we’ll define roles, align goals, and build trust. In parallel, we will engage public health officials and stakeholders in co-design sessions to explore real-world use cases. These sessions will help us understand user needs and refine how AI-generated models can support better, faster decisions by helping ask the right questions from the start.
