Venture The strategic innovation programme Electronic Components and Systems:
Call Electronic Components and Systems: Feasibility studies 2023

Important results from the project

The goal of the "ELIT" project within "Smarter electronics systems: Feasibility studies 2023" was to identify the best sensing method, sensor technology and sensor system to measure weight/ load and also to be easily integrated in Svero´s lifting block. This proof-of-concept system prototype was successfully achieved using a strain load sensor, low-power control electronics, and low-power Bluetooth wireless communication. The load sensor system is ready for test outside lab environment.

Expected long term effects

The feasibility project "ELIT" is expected to provide a strong long-term collaboration with Svero and contribute to the digitization of Svero´s products. A low-power sensor system integrated into the lifting beam/ trolley will facilitate and significantly reduce the cost of service/ maintenance/ repair and annual inspection of the product. With the help of IoT, the product lasts longer, can have more life cycles and reduces the risk of work environment-related injuries.

Approach and implementation

´ELIT´ study projects have been carried out with regular online and on-site meetings at RISE in Gothenburg, at Svero in Jönköping, rapid iterations (weekly exchange of input) which enable close collaboration to achieve the successful goals. Testing was carried out at RISE lab and Svero´s workshop. The excellent results show that these solutions may have potential for more IoT devices and the results may have an impact in other applications as well.
