Important results from the project
Our plan to utilize the time in Singapore was to mainly reach out to researchers from the universities, considering the nature of our research topic. However, we also visited industrial setups to understand their working and possible connection to our project idea. The initial goal was to meet as many researchers as possible and make connections that can be used for collaborations. Ideally, this goal was satisfied to a good extent and we managed to identify potential collaborators.
Expected long term effects
The visit to Singapore facilitated valuable in-person meetings and deeper discussions with researchers, professors, and business professionals. This led to better understanding of their work, research directions and openness to collaboration, and eventually resulted in identifying potential partners in both Sweden and Singapore, not only for immediate collaboration but also for longer term. We believe these connections will provide a strong foundation for our future international collaboration.
Approach and implementation
During the stay in Singapore, we initially attended kick-off organized by Vinnova and Business Sweden. We then presented our research topic during visit to Sinergy (Singapore Consortium for Synthetic Biology) at National University of Singapore (NUS). In the following days we visited Singapore Centre for Environmental for Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) at Nanyang Technological Unisersity (NTU). Additionally, we planned a visit to ScaleUp Bio company and lastly attended kick-out by Vinnova.
