Important results from the project

The planning project successfully developed and submitted a robust EIC Pathfinder proposal. All planning goals were met, including knowledge transfer and detailed work plan development. This project fostered crucial international collaborations and ensured a cohesive vision and methodological work package design for the Pathfinder proposal.

Expected long term effects

The Pathfinder proposal aims to demonstrate Noobed SiC/SiC Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) materials for next-generation nuclear energy technology, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy costs, and enhanced EU strategic autonomy in critical materials. This also fosters a robust European supply chain and can catalyse R&D for new Noobed SiC/SiC CMC applications in aviation, space, energy, and other demanding industries, promoting broader industrial competitiveness.

Approach and implementation

The planning project followed a structured approach, successfully developing the Pathfinder proposal within the planned timeline. Activities included strategic application area assessment, detailed work plan creation, and collaboration with Civitta for expert guidance. International consortium partner alignment was strong. No significant unexpected issues or external factors negatively impacted the project. The collaborative framework functioned as intended.
