Purpose and goal
The project´s aim is to further develop the collaboration between Vinnova and KTH on bibliometric analysis, both in developing methodology and applied questions. The overall goal in this project period is a broad benchmarking of the Swedish research system, in a international context. This includes comparisons between country groups, countries and organisations, both at the overall level and detailed subject areas. Other perspectives to examine are positioning over time, as well as what collaboration networks look like, both within and outside academia.
Expected effects and result
The project is expected to lead to further development of the bibliometric infrastructure at KTHB as well as in-depth analyzes and data reports that are needed at Vinnova and KTH. More specifically, the project should lead to better opportunities to analyze and distribute bibliometric data, via a more efficient infrastructure, as well as analyzes of the standing Swedish research in subject areas relevant to industry and society. The project will deliver a number of reports at different levels, as well as data flows and web applications to access bibliometric data.
Planned approach and implementation
Bibcap is run as a long-term collaboration between KTH and Vinnova. The project will be carried out by the bibliometrics group at KTH´s library, in collaboration with analysts at Vinnova. The direction of the project is determined by a joint steering group, consisting of representatives from both KTH and Vinnova, which meets 2-3 times per six months. The overall focus during this project phase is on international benchmarking of the Swedish research system from a bibliometric perspective, which will guide both applied questions and development of systems and infrastructure.
