290 million for digitalisation of Swedish industry
In one of the largest calls for proposals of the year, Vinnova has granted 38 project that will help industry create and take advantage of the opportunities of digitalisation. The investment of SEK 290 million is part of the Advanced digitalisation program, which finances, among other things, AI for autonomous vehicles, rehabilitation with XR, integrated radar and communication for 6G, and skills development in new technologies.
Swedish industry is in a rapid transition where digital solutions play a crucial role. To strengthen innovation capacity, and meet future eligibility requirements on sustainability and resource efficiency, Vinnova created a new call for proposals for industrial demand-driven innovation.
– The initiative is part of the Advanced digitalisationprogram. The goal of both the call for proposals and the program is to accelerate the development of new digital solutions - with a clear anchoring in the real needs of the industry, says Staffan Nyström, call manager at Vinnova.
The call for proposals, which closed in April, had five focus areas: AI for industrial applications, advanced digital infrastructure, industrial flexible energy control, human-AI interaction for industrial electrification, and XR for learning and innovation.
The projects that have been granted funds meet future-critical challenges, from skills development in new technologies to resource-efficient production and electrification.
– We are pleased to be able to grant such a breadth of project! The applications in this call for proposals were consistently of high quality, and it has been a challenging assessment process. This was the first round of a recurring call for proposals, where the focus may differ from time to time depending on the issues identified as most urgent for advanced digitalisation of Swedish industry. The second round is already open for proposal, and there we are targeting project within cybersecurity and data flows, says Staffan Nyström.
