This study is an overview of the economic literature on the quantitative relationships between R&D-investments and economic growth. The study was first published in Swedish in May 2008 by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv). Since the scientific and policy discussion on the issues discussed in the report is highly international and since this study represents a broad overview of the current economic research on these issues, Vinnova has funded the translation of the report into English. Thereby we hope that this study could further inform and inspire the already intense scientific and policy discussion on the nature and determinants of the relationships between research, innovation and economic growth.
