Important results from the project
Through this project, we have achieved an understanding of what kind of information local social services need to provide to young people and in what way it needs to be addressed. We found both similarities and differences as to what different groups of young people think. The project has contributed to a greater knowledge of what it takes to develop more modern social services with interactive advice and information that have the potential to reach more vulnerable children and young people. The plan is to use knowledge from project to apply for funding for development project by Vinnova.
Expected long term effects
The project has been an important step in developing the participation of different groups of young people in matters concerning local social services. The two young people who have been employed for the duration of the project has continuously ensured a youth perspective in the choice of methods and approaches and have served as a link to other young people. They have asked questions which has highlighted what type of information may be important to young people.
Approach and implementation
Surveys, focus groups and field trips have shown to be useful in finding out what kind of information need to be provided by social services to young people. Regarding children and young people who have an ongoing contact with social services we have not received the number of responses we hoped for. This is probably due the project being relatively short term and to the high workload for social workers who helped handing out questionnaires.
