Call Impact Innovation – System demonstrators for the sustainable manufacturing industries of the future - stage 2

Purpose and goal

The project will establish a large-scale, circular and traceable system demonstrator for Swedish wool that integrates the entire value chain from collection to finished product. The goal is to build industrial capacity, strengthen resilience and self-sufficiency, and enable sustainable production in Sweden. The work lays the foundation for a long-term Nordic scale-up.

Expected effects and result

(i) Established foundation for large-scale, circular and traceable wool value chain (ii) Improved resource efficiency and reduced climate impact in production (iii) More wool qualities find commercial outlets through new products and business models (iv) Strengthened regional resilience and funding for total defense (v) Increased knowledge, policy development and preparedness for scale-up to 500 tons

Planned approach and implementation

A large-scale and traceable value chain for Swedish wool is being established in Forsa - from collection, classification to scouring, spinning, product development and recycling. It is organized in work packages where project partners develop and test technical, logistical and business solutions in a real environment. A mission-oriented methodology is used to coordinate actors, drive innovation and ensure that technology development, business models, policy work and behavioral change interact.
