Important results from the project

Very ambitious and interesting project for Vattenfall, with the possibility to improve our wind farm performance. Unfortunately we did not succeed in performing onsite tests with the expected RADAR system, luckily Vattenfall was partner in another project “Total Control” where measurments at Lillgrund wind farm with a scanning LIDAR was transferred to the WISDOM project partners for application and model development and verification. With this Plan B we succeeded in developing a set of useful applications and models for wind farm operation and optimization.

Expected long term effects

WMT didn’t manage to measure with the RADAR system at Lillgrund, and therefore the potential for optimizing the wind farm are much smaller. Still some models for wind farm optimization have been developed with the LIDAR data from the “Total Control” project. These models are still useful but not as effective when we don’t get online turbulence intensity data input from the operating wind farm.

Approach and implementation

Since the RADAR development was very delayed and pore results from the first tests, we newer managed to install and perform the expected offshore tests at the Vattenfall Lillgrund wind farm.
