Purpose and goal
Our project aims to increase the number of people who share rides, and reduce the number of vehicles on the roads in order to reduce emissions from domestic transport. We do this by building a ridesharing platform within existing contexts with high trust. These contexts are Swedish civil society organisations (CSOs). The platform will be integrated in the CSOs own digital products, and then the CSOs are connected with each other. The project also contributes with open data on ridesharing.
Expected results and effects
Our performance goals are a digital ridesharing platform that is integrated in the CSOs own products as well as open data about ridesharing. This is expected to lead to the members of the CSOs starting to rideshare. Expected impact targets are reduced emissions from private vehicles and reliable open data on ridesharing in Sweden, which parts of the public sector include in analyzes of the transport system in Sweden. The long-term effect goal is a permanent change in behavior in favor of ridesharing.
Planned approach and implementation
Three CSOs test the platform during the project: Naturskyddsföreningen, Skjutsgruppen and Friluftsfrämjandet. During the project we develop the platform, integrate it and invite members to test it. The city of Gothenburg and Umeå municipality will test the open data. The project will be documented as open source. Also, during the project we share knowledge and invite more CSOs to participate at the same time as co-financier Region Västra Götaland connects the project with existing mobility projects.
