VFT UMU 2025-2027

Purpose and goal

The project will support the identification, evaluation and verification of ideas and knowledge assets from academia (Umeå University) in order to benefit society, primarily through commercialization via new spin-off companies, licensing, etc. A major focus will be on deeptech ideas and other knowledge-intensive ideas. The overall objective of the project is to contribute to increased commercialization and utilization of knowledge assets, research results and ideas from university target groups.

Expected effects and result

The focus will be on sharpening existing established methods to increase the flow through the Innovation Office processes so that more projects are transferred to other subsequent actors. We will also focus on continuing to further develop our processes and work methodology so that we get a higher quality of our activities. The focus will be on delivering more companies based on knowledge-intensive ideas, especially deeptech.

Planned approach and implementation

We will build on our established process for ideas from inflow to exit and further develop the process to increase the efficiency and quality of our work. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with our collaboration partners in the academic innovation support system, especially the academic incubators, which increases the quality of our delivery.
