Important results from the project

Researchers and students at Linköping University produce knowledge, which may play an important role in developing industry and employment opportunities, both for the region and for the nation. There has been a gap from the generation of such knowledge and more mature stages where companies can grow organically, or with venture capital. The aim of this project is to bridge this gap.

Expected long term effects

We have studied 94 ideas during 2013, out of which 42 ideas have received support from the program. The output has been 11 new spin-out companies. The new companies are generally promising, and active in fields as diverse as microfuidics, treatment of burn wounds, regenerative medicine, energy system, automation within the construction sector, medical imaging, nano technology and Virtual Reality.

Approach and implementation

The VFT1 project is and integrated part of the Business Development process at InnovationskontorEtt. The activities are carried out in dialogue mode between the researchers/students and the Business Developer. Financial support is given in two-stage mode: the first quite informal, and the second more in line with a grant application. The project process is now stable in the big picture, but still being refined in details

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
