Purpose and goal
Through V2G, vehicles can generate revenue even while they are parked. The purpose of the project is to develop knowledge about how V2G solutions for electrified freight transport can be enabled. One of the project’s objectives is to analyse how responsibilities, costs, compensation, and revenues should be distributed among actors in different actor constellations in order to enable economically sustainable V2G solutions. A further objective is to analyse data sharing within the V2G ecosystem.
Expected effects and result
The project will contribute to clearer roles and responsibilities for actors in the V2G ecosystem, thereby strengthening the basis for investment decisions by haulage companies. It will also improve the conditions for commercially viable and scalable services based on the use of vehicle batteries, provide decision support and guidelines for future pilot projects, and increase understanding of the digital infrastructure and data sharing required for heavy-duty V2G solutions.
Planned approach and implementation
The project’s work packages cover ecosystem analysis, method development, business constellations, quantitative analyses, and a synthesis preparing for future pilot activities. Business Model Canvas and Jobs-to-Be-Done will likely be used to identify business models and incentives, such as avoiding simultaneous charging that may increase power tariffs. The quantitative analysis builds on a previous V2G tool that uses AI to optimise fleet charging strategies for representative days.
