Important results from the project

The project has developed proposals for a value-oriented and inclusive digitalisation. We have mapped digital exclusion, identified residents´ needs, as well as obstacles and opportunities at the policy level. Together with residents, civil society, authorities, companies and researchers, we have developed ideas for inclusive digitalisation that strengthen social sustainability. The results support how public actors can act in a complex digitalisation system by putting inclusion at the centre.

Expected long term effects

If the results and proposals are used in a system-changing effort for inclusive digitalisation, they can ultimately reduce digital exclusion. More residents can have better opportunities to independently manage matters, access information and be active citizens in a way that provides a good quality of life. The results can also help to break stereotypical beliefs about digital exclusion, how it looks, occurs and who is affected.

Approach and implementation

The City of Helsingborg and Lund University collaborated closely on the project through ongoing exchange of objective and activities. A reference group with broad representation based on the residents´ life situations produced an inventory of initiatives and an actor map. Researchers conducted interviews with residents and the insights from there formed the basis for an ideas workshop. We worked on the ideas further in a policy lab. We collected insights and results in a report.
