Funding from Vinnova SEK 5 225 000
Project duration November 2025 - March 2029
Status Ongoing
Venture Transport and mobility solutions - FFI
Call Transport and mobility services - FFI - autumn 2025

Purpose and goal

• Increased knowledge: Insights on how V2G services should be designed, with emphasis on business models, user experience, and future scalability • Practical testbed: Development of a testbed with at least four V2G-enabled vehicles • Grid integration: Investigation of how V2G can support local and national power grids • Research publications: Dissemination of scientific articles and conference papers • Dissemination of results: Active collaboration with industry forums, social media, and press

Expected effects and result

• More stable power grid: EV batteries can be used as energy storage to store and release energy for balancing the grid. • Economic benefits: Enabling financial incentives for car owners and new revenue models for grid owners, energy suppliers, aggregators, and parking providers. • Environmental impact: Increased integration of renewable energy and reduced fossil backup. • Scalability: Over time, a growing fleet of V2G-enabled vehicles can provide substantial flexibility to the power system.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will study at least four V2G-enabled vehicles in a testbed equipped with bidirectional charging infrastructure and newly developed software for user interaction and management of energy and parking flows. Analysis and modeling will be based on observed user behavior, complemented by surveys and technical performance data from the facility. Special focus will be placed on developing business models that facilitate the effective deployment of V2G services in parking garages.
