Important results from the project

InvivoPower AB develops a disruptive technology for transcutaneous energy transfer for active medical class three implants. Invivopower has received two approved patents during the project period and another patent application has been filed. Invivopower has further developed a surgical method through operations on dead people and animal experiments. A fully functioning implanted energy link system has been shown in a deceased human being. Further a first license sale has been made, which demonstrates that Invivopower´s technology is sellable already at this early stage.

Expected long term effects

Invivopower´s rapid advances in transcutaneous energy transfer technology for high power applications, such as mechanical circulatory support / artificial hearts, are expected to shake the industry that has been trying to solve this problem for over 25 years. Despite Covid, Invivopower has made its technology known through webinars, digital conferences and the educating Key Opinion Leaders. At present, Invivopower´s technology is referenced at the most famous conferences for artificial hearts.

Approach and implementation

The surgical development in the project has methodically been driven forward with first studies on dead pigs, then dead people and now finally animal experiments on live pigs. This "practical" approach quickly provides valuable insights into the design of the surgical method. Implant development has gone hand in hand due to implant geometry directly affecting the surgery. Furthermore, Covid has influenced the sales process and referred us to the digital arena. However, this has enabled us to sell to customers and educate key-opinion leaders in a very cost-effective way.
