Important results from the project
The purpose of the project has been to plan an innovation contest stemming from the challenges related to the Western Sweden initiative. To make these problems addressable by an innovation contest there is a need for both a relevant challenge and to secure the necessary preconditions that the services developed can be sustained beyond the contest period. In the resulting application we have put specific emphasis on these issues (see results and implementation).
Expected long term effects
The results of the project have been presented in DNR 2013-04156. In the application we have presented a clear and relevant challenge (predictable goods deliverance despite major traffic disturbances) based on the analyses of Gothenburg City on expected effects of the Western Sweden Initiative. Furthermore, the project has expanded through inclusion of commercial parties that will suffer from the disturbances to ensure the commercial potential of the contest submissions. Finally, a tested contest process is presented.
Approach and implementation
In the outset of the project several challenge candidates were identified. Through workshops it was decided that predictable goods deliverance was the best candidate given its relevance and commercial potential. As the National Transport Administration has an interest in goods deliverance during the reconstruction period, they also joined the project. In the late stages of the project we are able to quickly recruit commercial actors, strengthening our hypothesis regarding the challenge relevance.
