Call Impact Innovation: Preparatory project for a reformed public sector

Purpose and goal

Aim: To strengthen the collaboration between public actors by further developing national support and guidelines for public procurement of food and meals in elderly care. Overall, long-term objective: To strengthen collaboration between public and private actors around public procurement of elderly´s meals, in order to promote healthy ageing, and thereby reduce the burden on healthcare and elderly care.

Expected effects and result

The project will develop practical tools and support that strengthen the ability of public actors to promote health and prevent malnutrition among elderly. In addition, the project will develop prototypes that can support quality of life. Through co-creation with elderly, relatives, staff and decision-makers, the solutions will be anchored in the system. This will increase understanding of the role of meals in elderly and healthcare, which in the long term will lead to a more proactive system.

Planned approach and implementation

The project maps system barriers and current working methods around food and meals, by gathering insights through interviews and workshops with elderly, their relatives, staff and decision-makers. Based on these insights, practical tools, quality support and prototypes for meal solutions will be developed that strengthen preventive work. Through co-creation and collaboration between different levels and actors, the results are anchored and form the basis for a future implementation project.
