Purpose and goal
The project aims to develop methods for technology assessment that link operational costs (DOC) to CO₂ and non-CO₂ emissions in aviation. The objective is to analyse how technologies influence this relationship, both for individual flights and transport networks. In collaboration between Saab, LiU, VTI, DLR & PACE, methods and tools are developed to enable quantitative comparison of technology options and support sustainable decisions on technology and operations within the air transport system.
Expected effects and result
The project expect to deliver methods and tools for quantitative technology assessment linking operational costs to CO₂ and non-CO₂ emissions. This enables comparison of technology options at mission and network levels. The results provide improved decision support for sustainable technology and operation. The project also strengthens international collaboration and contributes to future research initiatives as well as the development of competitive and sustainable air transport systems.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is carried out in collaboration between industry, research institutes, and academia, and is structured into five work packages. Initially, emission and cost models and a joint technology database are developed. These models are then integrated into analysis tools. In the next step, analyses are conducted at mission and network levels to evaluate technologies. The project includes continuous dissemination of results. Project management and quality assurance ensure progress.
