Call Impact Innovation: System demonstrators for the sustainable manufacturing industries of the future - step 1

Important results from the project

The project didn´t reach the goal of applying for a demonstrator project and implementation in the ProductionLeap. However, the feasibility study resulted in knowing what is required to build a netzero demonstrator in the manufacturing industry value chain. -Green-Lean tools (Green Kaizen, env.VFA, std work, visual instructions and vulnerability analysis) can support climate improvements and resilient ramp-up. -After a prestudy, ca 3-9 months are needed for consortium formation of a new proposal

Expected long term effects

The long-term effects of a pre-study that has not yet resulted in a demonstrator being started are difficult to predict. The results from the study provided seeds for future research projects and insight into how a demonstrator can be set up. Also important insights for a dissemination program in, for example, the ProductionLeap aimed at value chains. If such a program can be implemented for many firms, the effects are that those companies can meet the two-degree target in their value chains.

Approach and implementation

The project partners have collaborated in test and development activities (on-site & desktop) to set up the scope, content and implementation of a demonstrator and build a dissemination programme for multiple value chains. Method development for green kaizen, VSM, vulnerability analysis, ecodesign, environmental targets, and collaboration in a value chain programme were carried out together with activities for dissemination of knowledge and to assemble a larger consortium for implementation.
