Purpose and goal
The project SWAPLOG assesses the feasibility of battery swapping as a complementary energy replenishment solution for electric logistics fleets for Stockholm. The project will develop recommendations and a concept for a future pilot in Stockholm based on insights from international markets—particularly China and Japan—where battery swapping has been applied in urban logistics.
Expected effects and result
The project will develop a concept and roadmap for a future full-scale battery-swapping pilot for electrified urban logistics in Stockholm. The results will provide OKQ8 and other ecosystem actors with a concrete basis for future investment and implementation decisions. The project is expected to contribute to improved efficiency, accessibility, and resilience in urban logistics, while strengthening knowledge of how a battery-swapping ecosystem can be developed.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be carried out in three work packages. First, comparative case studies of battery swapping ecosystems in China and Japan will identify key actors, resource configurations, strengths, and weaknesses. Second, stakeholder interviews and a workshop will assess conditions and opportunities in Stockholm’s urban logistics system. Third, the findings will be synthesized into recommendations and a concept for a future pilot project.
