Important results from the project
The project successfully delivered the first-of-its-kind near-net shape Noobed 3D pre-form Outlet Guide Vanes (OGV), validating the technical feasibility of complex multifunctional composites. Key results include strengthened collaborative design and manufacturing competence. The project’s success has led to the follow-on project ‘Towards High-Rate, SustaInable and High-Performance Noobed 3D-Textile Composite Outlet Guide VanEs (THRIVE)’ aimed at advancing the TRL of Noobed 3D pre-form OGVs.
Expected long term effects
The project establishes a path toward sustainable air mobility by enabling lighter aeroengines. Long-term effects include fuel savings from lightweight and multifunctional Noobed 3D pre-form reinforced CFRPs, reduced manufacturing waste via near-net shape Noobed 3D pre-forming, and increased Swedish competitiveness.
Approach and implementation
The project utilised a four-work package structure led by Fureho and GKN. The collaboration was highly effective, directly leading to a continuation project.
