Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to take the company from testing and development to get out into the market. During the project, tests were carried out with basically good results, both for smolt and crop cultivation. However, we have not been able to handle major external disturbances, and this is something we will prioritize to address. We have delivered crops to customers, while smolt and nutrition are something we must continue to work on to be in the market. The plan is now to continue development while delivering crops to quickly generate revenue, while also making smolt farming more robust.
Expected long term effects
The project has worked to build customer relationships and create business in the areas of salmon smolt, crops and nutrients, and further develop the system of zero discharge of water and nutrients. The work has gone very well and we now know what it takes to succeed. Demand for crops and nutrients exists today, while the smolts depend heavily on an ongoing permit process. The system has proven to work properly, but has been sensitive to external disturbances, such as power cuts. Addressing this is of paramount importance in the future.
Approach and implementation
Results has been achieved through two activities: 1. Market analysis and collaborations 2. Building relationships and creating business agreements with customers Market analysis have been conducted primarily through discussions with potential customers and through relevant conferences and workshops. Based on this work, we have obtained a good picture of the demand for our various product categories. To take the step of actually building long-term relationships, to conduct business, we had dialogues with a number of actors where demands have been discussed and tests carried out.
